Bard was a third-pairing, stay-at-home defender for the Vancouver Goldeneyes last season, scoring just two points (both assists) while playing in all thirty of the team’s games. She contributed a goal and two assists in 27 games for the Boston Fleet as a rookie the previous season.
With Detroit’s first five signings (and their expected trade for Hilary Knight) coming with high-dollar contracts, it won’t be a surprise to see the team focus on lower-value deals as the expansion process continues.
