Wings Announce Prospects Tournament Roster

146

The Detroit Red Wings announced their roster for the 2026 Prospects Tournament at Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday.

The roster is highlighted by former first round draft picks Nate Danielson and Carter Bear up front as well as former second-round pick Trey Augustine in goal.

After a down year last year, there has been an uptick in players returning from the team’s summer Development Camp to play in the Prospect Tournament. Thirteen players who were at the Belfor Training Center in July will play for Detroit in the tournament. That list is Luka Arkko, Carter Bear, Michael Dec, Noah Dower Nilsson, Jesse Kiiskinen, Adam Levac, Michal Svrcek, Myles Brosnan, Justice Christensen, Will Murphy, Brady Ness, Jacob Truscott, and Michal Orsulak.

Six players – Dec, Ness, Cooper Dennis, Haeden Ellis, Carter Hicks, and Leo Laschon – are free agent invitees. Three more – Christensen, Kienan Draper, and Jacob Truscott – are signed to contracts with the Grand Rapids Griffins, though the Red Wings’ announcement chose to define Draper as a former Detroit draft pick rather than call out that the team opted not to sign him.

That leaves 15 players on the roster who are Detroit property, up from 14 last year.

I’m never going to let a roster announcement pass without touching on the jersey numbers involved but there doesn’t appear to be anything interesting this time around. Given that the team already updated their website with new player numbers, I’m not sure any surprises were expected here.

Sutter Muzzatti, acquired over the summer from Nashville, has taken the #38 worn by Brennan Ali in July’s Development Camp.

Myles Brosnan was assigned #3 in Development Camp and will be wearing #46 for the Prospects Tournament, which is a little odd with no one having been assigned #3 in Detroit but not too abnormal given that prospect numbers change all the time. Brosnan gets that #46 from John Whipple. Similarly, Luka Arkko switches from #95 to the #94 previously assigned to Grayden Robertson-Palmer for no discernible reason.

With new backup netminder Daniil Tarasov taking #80, Michal Orsulak switches to the #68 worn in Dev Camp by Rudy Guimond.
