Inaugural Schedule Announced for PWHL Detroit

The Professional Women’s Hockey League announced its schedule for the 2026-27 season on Friday, the first campaign for the PWHL Detroit team.

As was previously revealed, Detroit’s PWHL side will open the season on December 6 in Las Vegas. Their first-ever home game will be December 12 when they host the New York Sirens.

PWHL Detroit’s final home game of the regular season will be April 11. They close out the schedule with a road trip to Vancouver and Las Vegas on April 13 and April 17.

Each team will play 30 games over the approximately four and a half months of the schedule. There had been some chatter that the league would switch to a 32-game schedule – the maximum allowed under the current collective bargaining agreement – after expanding by four teams during the offseason.

With expansion, the league did take the opportunity to realign into two conferences. PWHL Detroit will be placed in the Western Conference alongside the Minnesota Frost, Seattle Torrent, Vancouver Goldeneyes, and their expansion siblings in Las Vegas and San Jose. The Eastern Conference will consist of the Boston Fleet, Montreal Victoire, New York Sirens, Ottawa Charge, Toronto Sceptres, and the expansion team in Hamilton.

The top four teams in each conference will qualify for the Walter Cup Playoffs.

Each team will take place in four Takeover Tour games. Detroit’s Takeover Tour dates are January 9 against Minnesota, February 28 against San Jose, March 10 against Las Vegas, and March 13 against Seattle.

After much was made about the ability of Little Caesars Arena to host PWHL and NHL games on the same day, that is currently only slated to happen once this season. PWHL Detroit’s home opener is a noon start to be followed by the Red Wings hosting the Panthers at 7:00 PM.
