A day after signing forward Ella Huber as their final move of Phase Four of the PWHL’s expansion player dispersal process, Detroit has sent her back to the Boston Fleet for a pair of draft picks.

Essentially, Detroit worked as a third-party to allow Boston to protect Huber with from selection by either Las Vegas or Hamilton at the end of Phase Four. In return, Detroit gets an additional second-round pick and slides back in the third round.
It’s a good bit management from Detroit GM Manon Rheaume. It doesn’t begin to make up for trading the third overall pick for Hilary Knight, which I wrote about earlier today, but it does put Detroit in position to address their goalie concern and still select a skater in the second round.
