  • A shame to see that huge save by MacDonald wasted when the Avs put in the rebound. Another goal scored with the opponent squarely in the crease. If the Wings ever have another goal called back for that, the organization needs to pitch one hell of a fit.

  • Huge goal by Val Filppula! Way to out-wait Budaj!

Going back to the first goal (and the first one in Columbus last nite)… I looked up the AP article from the Detroit – San Jose game on 12/2 where the Wings had an apparent goal called back. The description is as follows:

An apparent goal by Schneider with 3:13 left in the opening period was waved off because Red Wings forward Tomas Holmstrom was ruled to be in the crease. Replays showed that Holmstrom’s skates were outside the painted area.

Seems to imply that it was waved off not because he was interferring with the goalie but because they thought he was in the crease. Nice to see that only matters for guys wearing the Winged Wheel.

Heh, I went back and found the game thread for that San Jose game and found the following from me…

I’m going to be reviewing every goal against the Wings for the rest of the season and if there’s anyone even near the crease, I’ll be pitching a fit.

    I didn’t think I’d actually be doing it. B)

  • Well, Brunette was in the crease for Colorado’s second goal but at least he followed the puck in. Where’s a quick whistle when you need one?

  • I’m angry about this loss but I can’t really say for what reason, other than that it was a loss.

MacDonald played a solid game, the rest of the team didn’t suck, it just didn’t work out. Maybe that’s why it’s so maddening, you should win games where you don’t suck.
