The PWHL revealed the first-season jerseys for each of the league’s four expansion teams on Thursday.

The league continues the tradition of inaugural jerseys featuring the location name in diagonal lettering across the front of the jersey rather than a logo.

PWHL Detroit’s dark home jersey will be black with white numbers outlined in red. The city name appears in white outlined in silver. Both the sleeves and the waist feature five stripes in a white, silver, red, silver, white pattern.

The team’s white road jersey features black numbers outlined in red. Across the front, “Detroit” is in black outlined with sliver. A black shoulder yoke joins the five stripe pattern, with those stripes appearing as black, silver, red, silver, and black.

The stripes do not fully wrap around the sleeves on either jersey.

As was previously announced, the jersey sponsor is Ally, with their logo appearing in white on the black jersey and in their traditional purple on the white jersey.

With it appearing on black and white, that striping pattern is giving me a Chicago Blackhawks / New Jersey Devils vibe. The Blackhawks wore a black jersey with five stripes in the 1920s and 1930s, bringing it back for the 2019 Winter Classic. Then the Devils used it for their infamous just-retired New New Jersey “Jersey” Jersey alternate. The pattern is unique across the PWHL, though.

I think I would have preferred a simpler pattern but, in general, I’m pretty happy with this.
