Stupid Stat of the Day: The Red Wings are 3-1-1 all-time in their fourth game of the season when their first four games were all played at home.

In October 1949 at Olympia Stadium, Detroit’s fourth game was a 3-3 tie with Chicago. In October of 1972, Detroit started with four consecutive wins at home, including an 8-2 victory over Los Angeles.

In the lockout-shortened 1995 campaign at Joe Louis Arena, the Red Wings’ fourth game was a 5-1 win over Calgary.

In January of 2021, Detroit needed overtime to beat the Blue Jackets in their fourth game of the Covid-delayed season. The following October, they were shut out by the Flames in that season’s fourth game.
