TSN of Canada reports that the Detroit Red Wings have signed restricted free agent forward Valtteri Filppula to a five-year deal.
The deal is reportedly worth $15 million.
A two-year deal had long been rumored to be complete, with the two sides working on a longer-term deal.
Filppula scored 19 goals and added 17 assists in 78 games during the 2007-08 season. He added five goals and six assists during Detroit’s Stanley Cup run.
