Red Wings’ New Jersey Numbers Set

167

The Detroit Red Wings didn’t announce jersey numbers for their summer acquisitions in a social media post this year. Instead they simply updated the roster on their website with the changes on Thursday morning.

Viktor Arvidsson has been assigned the #33 he has worn for most of his career, with the number now available do to the trade of Sebastian Cossa to Utah.

Backup netminder Daniil Tarasov takes #80 – as I had guessed he might – with his usual #40 at least informally out of circulation.

Summer trade acquisition Keegan Kolesar takes the #55 that he wore with the Vegas Golden Knights, becoming the first Red Wing to wear it since Niklas Kronwall.

Carter Bear is back in #41 and Jesse Kiiskinen is in #79, both numbers carried over from the team’s summer development camp. Noah Dower Nilsson is similarly back in #74. Trey Augustine, meanwhile, gets the #31 that he wore in development camp in 2025.

Ondrej Becher gets his #57 back after David Perron had it to close out the 2025-26 campaign.

Dylan James has been assigned #70 after previously wearing #72 and #67 in camps. Anton Johansson gets #42 after having previously worn #20 and #61.

Rounding things out, Ronnie Attard will wear #56, Cameron Butler gets #47,Theo Rochette takes #48, Wilmer Skoog gets #73, Jacob Bryson will wear #78, and Chase Stillman has been given #49.
