Tomas Holmstrom returns to the lineup tonight, with Mark Hartigan sent back to Grand Rapids. Kris Draper could have gone but is playing it safe instead.
Dominik Hasek gets the start in net for the Red Wings. Brent “Sid Abel’s grandson” Johnson looks to be getting the start for Washington.
This is Alex Ovechkin’s first visit to Joe Louis Arena.

Great passing leading to the Zetterberg goal but the Wings still seem on their heels.

Garbage call!

Wings just got lucky as hell with the Caps missing an open net. They’re getting burned right now.

Welcome back Homer! Big, big goal, Wings have been getting their asses kicked.
Didn’t mention it earlier but good to see Samuelsson make it back onto the ice.

Bah. Could have been a regulation win. Wings did everything they could do to shoot themselves in the foot. Now we have OT.

Wings played their best hockey of the game in the first half of the OT. Then Dom kept them in with that huge save.
Damn shootout.

All three of those shootout goals looked so great. Good to see with how bad they’ve been in shootouts from time to time.

Great scoring by PAVS, HENRIK and JIRI in the Shootout. DOM came up big in the OT a couple of times.
First time in a long time that the WINGS were out shot in regulation.

Damn shootout.
I thought the WINGS looked strong in OT as well.

Turns out that Kolzig is in net.
He can’t stop Holmstrom, though. Power play goal!

Real nice shot by Ovechkin. Not much the Wings could have done there but win the faceoff.

Looks like the Caps did their homework on our defense
