New Jersey’s fourth-round draft pick in this weekend’s NHL Entry Draft is the return. That pick will be 108th overall.
Lombardi was originally selected in the fourth round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, 113th overall. He is a pending restricted free agent.
I’ve been griping for years about the Red Wings never giving their prospects a chance and then letting them walk for nothing so if Lombardi wasn’t in their plans, I’m glad they’re getting a do-over. Fourth-round player for fourth-round pick. Better than the usual.
That doesn’t make it good, though.
