Pregame: Red Wings @ Jets – 11/20

300

The Red Wings visit the Winnipeg Jets tonight in the second game of their three-game road trip against teams that wear blue. They beat the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday, 5-0, and face the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.

They’ll be without Pavel Datsyuk once again, which keeps Daniel Cleary in the lineup. There will be no healthy scratches up front, as Stephen Weiss has been sent to the Grand Rapids Griffins on a conditioning stint, made possible by the loss of Andrej Nestrasil on waivers to the Carolina Hurricanes.

On defense, Brendan Smith’s hand infection – suffered during a late-game fight in Columbus – has him sidelined for at least a week. Xavier Ouellet has gotten the call-up from Grand Rapids, leapfrogging over Jakub Kindl on the depth chart as Kindl will be a healthy scratch and Brian Lashoff remains in the lineup.

Petr Mrazek makes his first start of the season in goal.

Stupid stat of the day: The Red Wings have two wins and four losses since the 2004-05 lockout in their first game after losing a player on waivers.

Game time is 8:00 PM on FSD.
