Red Wings Sign Eaves to One-Year Deal

Restricted free agent forward Patrick Eaves has agreed to a one-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings, the team announced Wednesday.

While financial terms of the deal were not announced, CapGeek.com reports that the contract is worth $750,000.

Eaves joined the Red Wings as a free agent last summer after a trade from the Carolina to Boston, and then a buyout from the Bruins. He scored 12 goals and added 10 assists in his first season with Detroit.

Eaves is the second RFA forward to sign with Detroit in as many days, with Drew Miller having re-upped with the Red Wings on Tuesday. Both forwards’ futures are far from determined, as the Red Wings also continue their pursuit of longtime Dallas Star Mike Modano.
