  • The officiating in the first two periods of this game has been a joke. If I didn’t have (slightly) more faith in the NHL’s officials, I’d swear they’d been paid off by Nashville.

  • Now that I’ve slightly calmed down… It’s not like the Wings played well anyway. Both games in Nashville they came out strong and fell apart. I’m not blaming the refs for the loss (although I wonder if I can sue them for loss of enjoyment of life) but those bad calls in the second when the game was still 1-0 sure didn’t help.

  • How about if we go to the Joe Thursday afternoon, wait for the refs to show up, then beat them up and steal their uniforms and disguise ourselves as them so we can have a shot at getting a fair game? (Though, people might catch on that I’m not a real ref when they realize that I can’t stop without bumping into the boards….)

The bad quality of reffing in Game 4 was actually making me physically ill. But then, so was the bad quality of the Wings’ playing. They weren’t even skating! Only the 2 Kids and A Goat Line and the Grind Line came even close to looking like they were there to play hockey! And Manny. Hung out to dry, again. And of course, every time the Wings showed any signs of life, here come the refs with another bogus call! There’s no reason for a 7:30 start to last past 10:00 if there’s no overtime.

The real concern for me was not anything in the game itself, but in Barry Smith’s interview in the 2nd intermission. He said he thought they were playing well and just getting some bad breaks. Um, Barry, dude, what game are you watching? Guess there’s no help going to come from the coaching staff here….. I hope Stevie and Hullie have some good motivational speeches ready for Thursday!

We kept switching the channel to watch the Bruins vs. Habs on CBC during the commercials. It was such a better quality of game on all sides. I was jealous. :flagusa:

  • there is no need to get on the refs at all detroit did not play smart in either of the last two games. stuff like passing right to a guy for a breakaway and two handing someone in the neck twice can not be blamed on the refs. most of thier penalties have been more than warrented, yes here or there theres a bad call but that all evens out over the series, if detroit doesnt want to lose this series they need to get some brain cells and play hockey. i think they will win two in a row here because i think they played the last two games without giving any respect to the preds. now that they have been embarassed twice they will come out flying and maybe score a goal in the first 20 shots

  • While I agree that that the Wings should come out fast tonight and score early, I don’t see how you can say some of those penalties (or non-calls) were just the Wings playing stupid. Holmstrom gets checked into Vokoun and Lang’s goal gets called off? Draper gets slashed across the face (with the puck nearby, IIRC) and no one sees it? That’s not supposed to happen. I’ve already said that the officiating didn’t cause the Wings to lose helped Nashville out.
