The Detroit Red Wings announced Priority Waste as the team’s first jersey sponsor via social media on Thursday.
The Priority patch will be placed on the right side of the chest, where the captains’ letters have been since the NHL swiched to the Reebok Edge jersey template in 2007. Presumably, the letters will relocate back to the left side of the chest, which the team experimented with during the 2022 exhibition season.
I hate it, and I hate that the jokes are so easy to make, but we all knew this was coming.
The “good” news, if we can call it that, is that the Priority logo will be rendered in red on the Wings’ white jerseys and white on the team’s red sweaters, so at least they’re not introducing a non-team-color as part of it.
