The Detroit Red Wings placed veteran forward Daniel Cleary on waivers at noon on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.
With blueliner Jakub Kindl set to return from an eye infection, the Red Wings fifteen forwards, seven defensemen, and two goalies, one player over the 23-man roster limit.
Cleary, 36, signed a one-year, $950,000 contract with Detroit in September. Last season with the Wings, he had two points in 17 games.
Should he clear waivers, Cleary would be eligible to be assigned to the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins.
