The Detroit Red Wings announced on Wednesday that center Pavel Datsyuk will miss anywhere from two to five weeks with a second-degree shoulder separation.
It had previously been expected that he would miss one week but an MRI revealed that the injury was worse than assumed.
The injury came when Datsyuk was checked into the glass by Rob Scuderi during the Red Wings’ 2-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins in their exhibition opener on Monday. Datsyuk scored the game-winning goal in that contest.
