The Detroit Red Wings announced on Saturday that they have called up forward Riley Sheahan from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Sheahan joins the Red Wings as Henrik Zetterberg is questionable for Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Blues. Zetterberg tweaked his groin during Detroit’s 3-2 overtime win in Colorado on Friday night. He had missed the two games of the previous weekend with the same injury but returned for games against the Coyotes and Avalanche.
In 67 games with the Griffins this season, Sheahan has 16 goals and 19 assists. He was Detroit’s first choice in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, selected 21st overall.
