Between the (currently in progress) MSU – U of M football game and the Tigers – Rangers playoff game, the Red Wings visiting Minnesota is getting a bit overlooked today.
I’ll miss this one myself as I’m about to head up to my grandfather’s 80th birthday party. The DVR is set and I’ll probably catch some on the radio.
For those who won’t miss it, Josh Harding gets the start for the Wild and Jimmy Howard is expected to go for Detroit. Fabian Brunnstrom may make his Red Wings debut, as Mike Babcock had previously said he wanted to get everyone into the lineup by this weekend. Brad Stuart will not miss time after missing practice earlier this week. Mike Commodore remains on STIR and Brendan Smith will serve the third game of his suspension.
Game time is 8:00, FSD has the TV.

This game will be interesting as the Wild are in a rebuilding phase for the future. I always like the games in Minnesota as the crowd really gets into the game and you never really know what you are going to get. I hope Brunnstrom makes his debut.

Latendresse is probably the most ironic name for a hockey player. I just wanted to point out how hilarious it is.
edit: It is so weird seeing the Seals’ logo next to my name hahahaha
Are you in the DFHL?

Can we get some offense?
SYfanSDOctober 16, 2011 1:17 AM
Bad hit there…

Minnesota goes up by two and now they are trapping in the neutral zone. Like Mickey said, it’s going to be a long 30 minutes playing against that.

Two signs things aren’t going right for the Wings…
1. Dats misses on a breakaway
2. Lidstrom fans on a shot
Great pressure to end the second though.

White!!!!!

At least there is no shut out for the Wild now.
Mathieu_Datsyuk132351October 16, 2011 1:35 AM
And so they end up in overtime.

Thank jesus for no shoot-out. At least I think.
The review showed a good goal, awesome!

I got back just in time to see the game-winner. Caught the rest on the radio.
First off, I’ve gotta say, the Minnesota radio guys are really good. Nice kind of conversational flow, came across like Ken Kal and Paul Woods but without Kal’s squeaking.
Since I didn’t see any of it (until the end), I’ll just comment on the feel of the game.
It sounded like the Wings got caught on the two Minnesota goals but otherwise pretty much controlled the game. Shots being 41-14 is just unreal. Almost hate to see Josh Harding come back from a year off due to injury and still lose after a great game like that.
All three Wings goals were the second goal of the season for the scorers, breaking a streak that saw the first ten goals of the season scored by ten different players.
I’ll try to catch a replay but overall, it’s great to see the Wings stick with it and rally. It’s the first time they’ve trailed this season and it’s good to know they’ve got the mental toughness to come back when they have to.

No call on Clears??? What the hell?

The last time the Wings had three consecutive shutouts was 1955. The last time the Lions started 5-0… 1956.
