It may feel like the home opener, with how long the Red Wings have been off since starting the season with a pair of consecutive games, but tonight is the first real challenge for Detroit as they host the defending Western Conference Champion Vancouver Canucks.
Mike Commodore remains out for the Wings, meaning Brendan Smith has been called back up to serve another game (actually two, as Commodore won’t play in Minnesota on Saturday, either) of his suspension. Patrick Eaves and Fabian Brunnstrom are the healthy scratches up front, with Tomas Holmstrom back in the lineup and Cory Emmerton remaining in.
Detroit won’t be facing Roberto Luongo, who got the loss for Vancouver in Philadelphia last night. Cory Schneider gets the start against Jimmy Howard.
Game time is 8:00 PM (rescheduled to accommodate the Tigers – Rangers game at Comerica Park). FSD has the TV.

The Tigers hold on to win it, now we can get on with the hockey.
The Comcast guide says the Wings start at 8:30. If anyone was planning to DVR this, I hope it’s not too late for you to fix it.

I’ve got tix to the Caps game when the Wings come to town on the 22d. Can’t wait!

This game is making me sad so far because I decided before it started for every power play I was going to do a part of my homework.
Eventually you learn you’re paying for school and you don’t have to do homework if you don’t think it’s worth it.

You’ll see them before I do, my next game is 11/5. Griffins tomorrow though.

LOL @ Hudler trying to fight. Oh my god hahahaha

As much as I agree with you I have a very important midterm tomorrow!

I was tweeting earlier that the Wings should quadruple shift Abdelkader to intimidate Schneider. I think I was right.
Really nice goal, great pass by Bert to get it to Abs.

Nice to see Fil shoot. Looked like Schneider could have had it, fluttering.
Clark RasmussenOctober 14, 2011 1:19 AM
That sucks so bad for the Canucks.

Way closer than that needed to be. Wings got lazy to end the period.
Not a single faceoff in the Detroit zone that period. Crazy.

You can’t get asny closer than that…

Can’t complain about consecutive shutouts.

Man I’m tired. Off to bed…

Scrambly at times but a solid kill to start.
Clark RasmussenOctober 14, 2011 12:14 PM
Bad production right there, camera didn’t cut to the fight until it was nearly over. Unless we missed something, it looked like Lapierre didn’t throw a punch until the linesmen came in. Lame.

Hey all! Good to be chatting from home!

Call was weak but Bert had position. He didn’t need to make that hit.
