The Detroit Red Wings announced today that forward Danny Cleary and defenseman Brad Stuart will miss the remaining three games of the team’s preseason schedule.
Both are hopeful for Detroit’s regular season opener on October 7 when the Red Wings host the Ottawa Senators.
Cleary’s injury came in Friday’s loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. It is described as an upper-body injury.
Stuart has been nursing a sore groin but played in the Red & White Game in Grand Rapids Tuesday night. He is expected to skate Thursday but will sit out the remaining games as a precaution.
Detroit has already lost forward Jan Mursak to injury this preseason, having fractured his ankle in Sunday night’s win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
