With the clock counting down to the start of NHL free agency, the Detroit Red Wings shored up their forward unit, keeping Patrick Eaves and Drew Miller in the fold.
Eaves signed a three-year extension worth a reported $1.2 million per season.
Miller’s deal was for two years with a total of $1.65 million.
The pair’s return gives the team fourteen forwards for the 2011-12 season. As such, veteran Kris Draper cannot be expected to return to the team.
The Red Wings also announced that they would not seek to sign Jaromir Jagr as a free agent. The Pittsburgh Penguins made the same announcement.
