Wow, there’s really absolutely no pre-game info about this matchup. West Coast road trips are like that, little of the media is actually travelling with the team so there’s no time for quotes. Among other reasons, like a semi-permanent feeling of sleepiness from games that don’t end until 1:30.
Tonight’s matchup starts a little earlier than Monday’s with a 10:00 PM start time on FSN Plus. As they say, check your local listings. Or check FoxSports.com since you’re obviously tech-savvy enough to do that if you’re already reading this.
Concerns about tonights game? Defense, as per usual this season. Anaheim’s offense is finally clicking after a rough start so they’ll be a better test than the Kings were, though holding LA to only 19 shots was a good sign.

XD I remember that day….
I found out I have it on BCSN (which is odd, that’s the local sports channel! )
I can’t give little tidbits today, my mom is home tonight, so I will be kicked off the computer =/
I hope they kick Anaheim’s ass, though – I will forever and always hate that team!
Mathieu_Datsyuk132351October 30, 2008 1:00 AM
Looks like Comcast hasn’t let me down, I’ve got the game. Hooray for an excuse to stay up all night.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 2:01 AM
Funny, Murphy just called a call against Anaheim marginal but defended similar calls against Detroit in Chicago.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 2:15 AM
HUge save by Ozzie but a penalty on Anaheim would have negated it anyway.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 2:26 AM
Power play goal! Nice redirection by Datsyuk in the slot.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 2:28 AM
Another f*cking five-on-three against and they’re calling delay of game to extend it.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 2:33 AM
And the Ducks score on the first five-on-three. Which should never have happened anyway but f*ck it, apparently I don’t know the rulebook anymore.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 2:35 AM
Quiet night in here. Guess these will be my notes for if I do a write-up later. Or an excuse not to.
Nice to see Ozzie getting p*ssed off. The Wings always get their asses kicked going to the net, they need to give it back.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 2:40 AM
Wings really benefitted from the interference call to Selanne. I’d have gone (even more) apesh*t if they didn’t call it.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 2:54 AM
Just got back from work, just in time for the second period. I reckon I’ll watch all of the rest. Just saw the goals, but didn’t really absorb it.
BritishwingsfanOctober 30, 2008 3:05 AM
Huge save by Ozzie!
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 3:06 AM
Mac and May go for a short one. Think May wins that one.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 3:08 AM
Pavs with another tip! And another great feed from Hossa. Wow.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 3:18 AM
Hossa to Datsyuk and it’s in! What a pass.
BritishwingsfanOctober 30, 2008 3:19 AM
I liked Ken Daniels’ kind of questioning tone on calling the non-call when Zetterberg was interfered with on the PK.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 3:23 AM
Saw that was Draper and knew nothing would happen, Draper can’t finish.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 3:27 AM
Another tip-in. If it works, why not?
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 3:35 AM
Isomehow didn’t even notice the goal had been scored. I was doing something else at the time, and I’m watching Ducks TV or something, so they wouldn’t have got very excited about it.
BritishwingsfanOctober 30, 2008 3:40 AM
Oh for f*ck’s sake, another five-on-three.
And they score.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 3:41 AM
Off Lilja’s skate?! Again?! Jesus Christ.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 3:41 AM
But now it’s 3-2. Scott Niedermayer with the goal.
BritishwingsfanOctober 30, 2008 3:42 AM
Finally the penalty kill ends before even more damage is done.
BritishwingsfanOctober 30, 2008 3:44 AM
Babcock giving the refs hell on the way off the ice. Caught “f*ck” a few times in there.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 3:44 AM
Selanne with another power play goal. Kronwall should elbow him in the f*cking face since Pronger got away with it on Datsyuk.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 4:10 AM
Oh sh*t. Sotherby puts the Ducks up 4-3.
BritishwingsfanOctober 30, 2008 4:28 AM
I’ve been trying to think of some nice, all-encompassing line or two to sum up last night’s OT loss in Anaheim but I’ve got nothing. Instead I’ll just repost (with corrected spelling) something I said over at Abel to Yzerman before the start of overtime.
You know what I love about that tying goal? It proves that Red Wings hockey is better than Ducks hockey. All that extra-physical, “Let me whip it out and show you how much of a man I am” sh*t Anaheim does bit them in the ass, with Beauchemin going for the hit instead of cutting off the pass.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t automatically make the Wings the better team or give them the win. Just makes me feel better.
With how the game ended, I’m not sure it makes me feel better anymore. Anaheim did what they always do, they did something that’s technically against the rules but isn’t bad enough that the league punishes them for it.
Chris Pronger elbows Pavel Datsyuk to the head? Pavs is fine, no big deal.
Game-winning goal from above the crossbar? Eh, it was only a couple inches, let it slide.
Red Wings hockey is better than Ducks hockey because there’s a difference in being physical and being dirty. The Ducks are a dirty team and frustrates me to no end that they get to play by a different rulebook.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 4:32 AM
Was I seeing things or was there really an octopus on the ice there? At this point in the season?
BritishwingsfanOctober 30, 2008 4:34 AM
Zata ties it up! Wings still alive!
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 4:40 AM
Could it be OT…..again?
BritishwingsfanOctober 30, 2008 4:42 AM
Ozzie comes up big after the lazy neutral zone play.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 4:42 AM
Another OT game. Another West Coast OT game. No sleep.
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 4:43 AM
In a game where the Ducks had about three hours of 5-on-3, was there any doubt that goal would stand?
Clark RasmussenOctober 30, 2008 4:49 AM
Damn, the goal stands. And it’s over, the Ducks win. Goodnight.
BritishwingsfanOctober 30, 2008 4:51 AM
Uh, that was knocked in with a high stick, boy wings got jacked in this game, still got a point miraculously. Ducks showed a lot of intensity but still had to give everything possible just to “beat” the wings. Wings impressed this game. OH and all those calls they were making all game weren’t being called some chances.
RideTheRedWaveOctober 30, 2008 4:56 AM
Bad omen about tonight’s game… Comcast supposedly has FSN+ at channel 901 but right now nothing is listed on that channel tonight. Last time that happened was the missing game from last season where the game was never actually shown.
There’s a 3 AM replay on normal FSN Detroit, I’ve got my DVR set for it just in case but I’m sure as hell not staying up for it if I’m getting screwed over by Comcast again.
