Red Wings – Rangers Game Thoughts

383

I’ve said several times tonight that the Red Wings got two points they didn’t deserve tonight.

Once again they looked sloppy all over the ice and seemed afraid to forecheck. It wasn’t until they had blown the lead they got earlier that they seemed to have any jump to their game.

The first three Detroit goals came on rushes and good bounces, not from any form of continued pressure. By contrast, the Rangers four goals were the result of blown defensive coverage.

With about ten minutes left in the third period, it seemed as though the Red Wings flipped a switch and were suddenly on. For those final ten minutes they looked like the team we’re all used to seeing, unafraid of going into the corners and controlling the puck all over the ice.

If they had played the whole game with that kind of intensity, these two points would be deserved.
