Detroit Red Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg announced Tuesday that he will not play the next two games and will also sit out the All-Star Game scheduled for the upcoming weekend.
It marks the second consecutive All-Star Game Zetterberg has missed due to injury.
“I’m disappointed, especially this year after I was voted in (as a starter) by the fans,” Zetterberg said. “We decided it’s best not to go and get this squared away and be healthy for the rest of the year.”
The two Red Wings games he plans to sit out are Tuesday night in Los Angeles and Wednesday in Anaheim.
