  • Tomas Kopecky makes his return to the Detroit lineup on Tuesday, replacing Kyle Calder. That looks to be Detroit’s only change after their loss on Sunday.

I swear I read somewhere that Shawn Thornton will be out for the Ducks but I can’t find it anywhere. Chris Kunitz won’t be coming back after missing Game Two, he had surgery and is out for the playoffs.

  • WOW Sweet, I was really liking his play before he got injured. As for the broken hand rumor for Calder, I’m guessing its true.

  • Yeah, I’m actually surprised that Babcock didn’t mention anything about Calder’s hand. I guess he wants the option of switching Calder back in later without anyone knowing about the injury, so we’ll have to wait until after the playoffs to find out exactly what’s up.

    Clark Rasmussen May 15, 2007 10:39 AM
  • Ahh, if he’s going to play, that would explain why I couldn’t find something that said he wasn’t going to. B)

  • Good thing the Versus guys reminded me that Rob and Scott Niedermayer are brothers, I’d never have remembered that. And apparently they’re not only phenominal hockey players but incredible human beings.

  • Woohoo! You know what makes me celebrate a Duck being draped all over Zetterberg? When Hank was just the decoy. Nice pass by Mikey, great shot by Franzen.

  • Once again, I’m not impressed by the WINGS D to gain control of, and clear pucks from their zone. The DUCKS have been able to outplay WINGS in this category, and I’m concerned that ANAHEIM is going to make DETROIT pay …… we’ll see I guess ……..

  • HOMER!!!

Wings are doing a great job of getting the puck to the wide open guy.

    Clark Rasmussen May 16, 2007 1:52 AM
  • The DTGL isn’t a prob for the Wings I hope?

I can’t dispute that …. The WINGS are doing a great effort that way in front of Giguere. Its just that its a nail biter every time the DUCKS win the one-on-ones with the WING D, or the WING D fail to clear. I guess I can live with it if the WINGS are able to keep shots from getting to DOM …

  • Bye-bye, Giggy!

    B)

    Bert’s having a great night.

And the new guy’s no better! Great chance by Fil, Homer with the rebound goal.

    Hola, Ms. Hurley.

I’m not seeing any problems for the Wings so far. B)

    Clark Rasmussen May 16, 2007 2:20 AM
  • Okay, commercial so I’ll calm down a little bit, not be so cocky, and finish my thought on Bert.

He drew both penalties at the end of the first, has been playing a big tough game, and even adds a goal. That’s what the Wings were looking for out of him, I hope this is a breakout game.

    Clark Rasmussen May 16, 2007 2:23 AM
  • What a surprise, the Quackers get bitchsmacked and they pull a page out of the Calgary playbook.

Time to put Ozzie in and make Pronger chew on that big goalstick.

    Clark Rasmussen May 16, 2007 2:32 AM
  • Re: Prong man

Versus has consistently trumped PRONGER up to put him at the same level as LIDSTROM …. I don’t see it …. PRONGER is Good but he’s not as good as LIDSTROM ….

As fir the NEIDERMYER & PRONGER hit on HOMER …. mean-ness coming out …… reminds me a little of the CLAUDE LeMieux hit on DRAPER several years ago … Best thing the WINGS can do tonight is not RETALIATE, but hold the big hits on NEIDERMYER until game #4 ….. Lets wait and see if NEIDERMYER still wants to play power forward …….. B)

  • Hey Niedemeyer, you’re a dead man

    Marg Hurley May 16, 2007 2:58 AM
  • Woohoo! Homer’s back on the ice!

I have no idea how that wasn’t a concussion.

    Clark Rasmussen May 16, 2007 3:06 AM
  • Not only is Homer back, he’s back on the scoresheet. Great pass, great goal by Fil.

    Clark Rasmussen May 16, 2007 3:25 AM
  • Would have been nice to wrap the game up without that high stick on Getzlaf. Looked accidental and like he’ll be fine but don’t want to give the Ducks anything to inspire them for Thursday.

This was a huge win this early in the series. Now, the worst-case scenario is that the series is tied coming back to Detroit. The Wings go into Game Four with the opportunity to take a 3-1 series lead.

As much as the Wings spread the offense around, it’s just as big that Anaheim’s offense was nowhere to be found. They had a couple big chances early and then again after Detroit had the commanding lead but did they really threaten Detroit’s lead at any point? Two shots in the second period!
