  • Detroit at Nashville,

Well folks, here we go! The newest rivalry in the league will be displayed tonight and the Preds are going to TRY and attempt an indelible impression on the Wings tonight, the way the Avs TRIED through the 90’s. But to no avail, Detroit showed, and will show tonight, why and how Detroit was built….on toughness! Win or lose, I believe it’s all about the heart tonight! ;)

Here’s to a great hockey game tonight. Let me hear ya!!

    Go Wings!

  • With four games left after this one between the two teams, I’m not sure how tough they’ll want to be. Save anything that might draw retaliation for the last game, don’t risk getting your own people hurt.

Ozzie gets the start and has the tendency to play up to most of the big teams, it’s against the lower teams (and San Jose) that he always has problems.

Yeah, the lack of defense in those games (lower teams) seems to be a little worse as well. I fully expect to see a big hitting game tonight unless Barry Trotz decides to see what the Preds have in the line adjustments over the past week. He is a crafty little coach and gets all he can from every player on that team. He is probably the only person in that entire organization that can see the game in a Scotty Bowman-esk (?) fashion. Picks the right personnel to fit his edification of the game.

The risk in any sport is letting off at the last moment. I believe that your perspective in that regard is somewhat suspect. I would like to think that the games would be more docile with regards to injuries, but I highly doubt it. Nashville is trying to test the waters tonight, and will come from all directions, as variances from period to period will be noticable. Trotz will analyze Babcock tonight, and make adjustments over the next few meetings. After all, the Red Wings are what they live for….the entire Nashville hockey community anyway.

    Go Wings.

  • Oh, I’m not saying either team will let up, far from it. I just don’t expect quite as much hitting in the first few of the remaining games.

  • Forsberg with the cheap sh*t already, “tripping over” Datsyuk.

Dude, this guy has always been cheap, but Wings need to keep the point shooters covered. they are wide open thus far.

    YzerFan19,

Who is calling the game tonight? Is it our first 50 goal scorer in the Wings history. I have some hillbillies on the coverage sent to me on the Center Ice subscription. WEAK!

    Nice Chelios elbow!! Whoo HOOO!!

  • Yeah, it’s Ken and Mickey and Mick is having fun. <_<

Looks like I was wrong, not a whole lot of really physical stuff yet but definitely chippier than I expected so far.

Man, these fnn Refs with these quick whistles!

    On the goal, Osgood faulty…??

    Glove_Dropper February 25, 2007 1:46 AM
  • So “possession” means “it’s in your skates” if your name is Tomas Vokoun. And it’s not roughing if the guy you’re hitting is a little Czech dude wearing red and white and you’re wearing something that looks like a baby shat on it. Good to know.

Yes and no. Shot was pretty quick but Osgood should have been in better position.

Yeah, and blow the whistle as soon as it touches the blue ice, you can assume he has it.

Sometimes it seems like we are always the bad guys to the refs.

    Go Wings!

  • Holy sh*t, you’ve gotta be kidding me. Ken just said that he talked to the “war room” in Toronto. They told him that the GMs decided at their meetings this week that that play does not count as a change in possession but that Devorski probably didn’t know that. How bush league is the NHL if one of their top officials doesn’t know the rules?

But it doesn’t matter, Homer with the PPG and now the Wings get the 5-on-3.

I guess I can stop complaining about the officials for awhile. <_<

Yeah, we made them pay too. This is what Detroit needs to do when teams are being overly abusive and we score on the power plays. When we don’t makem pay, they get more aggressive. This didn’t happen in Philadelphia…. I remember… I remember!!! :)

Almost from the sharp angle for 13!

    Go Wings!

  • Damn, would have been a good spot for someone to take a penalty, someone should have put a better hook on Legwand.

Nashville’s feed have any more info on where Forsberg went?

Edit: Ken just said that Forsberg is walking in the tunnel without skates on.

Nashvilles announcers keep bashing Holmstrom. Why is he there (Front of Goal)? Someone needs to get him! I’m thinking…duh, that’s why we love him you Jackasses!

Nothing ever came over about Forsberg. I didn’t even know he was gone. Yeah, great coverage here in Nashville….. F*cking rookie teams!

    Go Wings.

    Glove_Dropper February 25, 2007 3:04 AM
  • Mick wanted a penalty shot on that one and I can’t disagree with him, except for the fact that Draper can’t finish so it’d probably be wasted.

But Homer doesn’t waste the power play! Wings lead!

Damnit! Had a bad feeling about that.

Well, both teams get a point so the Preds can’t pass the Wings, but it’d sure be nice to pick up one more in OT (or the SO if it comes to that) to stretch the lead, rather than forfeiting it and leaving tonight tied in the standings.

f*ck! Yeah, great positioning there Kronner. <_<

Ok, but my point is this. If they wait until the last few games to crank it up, aern’t they likely to possibly injure one another on the eve of the playoffs. I feel that they will do the opposite and refrain from any antics in the final games against one another. Besides, what would be the benefit of waiting, if you need your information to characterize the content of your probably biggest rivals, if in fact you meet in the playoffs, where there is no time to gather insightful data.

The bottom line for me is this:

    1. Get your information early because you will not meet in the first round anyway, which gives time for other sizing.
    2. Deter all possible injuries late in the second half by getting your digs in while there is still time to recover if an injury is accrued.
    3. We’re all different and your opinion is just as valid as mine. <_< Snuck that one in there!

    Great topic.

    Go Wings.
