Netminder Joey MacDonald was claimed by the Boston Bruins on Saturday, a day after the Detroit Red Wings placed him on waivers.
The Red Wings cleared $117,000 towards the salary cap with the move while the Bruins gained goaltending depth.
MacDonald went 1-5-1 in his tenure as Detroit’s third goalie this season, with a 3.46 goals against average and a save percentage of .872.
Undrafted, MacDonald was signed as a free agent by Detroit on January 15, 2002.
