The Detroit Red Wings announced Wednesday that the injury defenseman Derian Hatcher suffered during Tuesday night’s loss to the Calgary Flames is a bruised shoulder. Hatcher is listed as day-to-day.
Hatcher may be available for Detroit’s Thursday night matchup with the Phoenix Coyotes but it’s too early to tell.
This is Hatcher’s second injury of the season. He played three games at the start of the season before tearing his anterior cruciate ligament. He returned against Tampa Bay last week and played four more games before injuring his shoulder.
Hatcher injured the shoulder in a third period collision with Calgary’s Chris Simon.
Anders Myrvold has been called up to accompany the Red Wings on their five-game road trip.
